Keweenaw Plaidurday Record Attempt

  • Houghton High School Alumni Field 1603 Gundlach Road Houghton, MI, 49931 United States (map)

HOUGHTON — Win two free tickets to see the sold-out Charlie Berens late show (10 p.m.) and other giveaway items on Nov. 10 at the MTU Rozsa when you attend Visit Keweenaw’s Keweenaw Plaidurday Celebration on Oct. 6.

Visit Keweenaw invites you to help break a world record of most people wearing plaid in a Plaidurday photo on Friday, Oct. 6 @ 12:45 p.m. at the Houghton High School Football Field. Plaidurday is the worldwide celebration of plaid and is always held on the first Friday of October. Shuttle service will be provided for MTU students departing at 12:20 p.m. from the MUB.

Wear your “Yooper Finest” a.k.a. plaid and help squash an Ontario record of 1,359 in 2019. The MTU Pep Band will attend and perform on the field. Brockit, Inc. will capture the group photo, which will require 1,360 people in plaid to break the current record. Participants are encouraged to come early to be counted and directed onto the field. Visit Keweenaw will give out free Keweenaw Plaidurday bracelets to help with counting and for people to take home and remember the fun day. The Charlie Berens tickets drawing will happen after the photo.

Visit Keweenaw thanks Houghton High School and the city of Houghton for assisting and helping host the event. All are welcome from near and far to attend – and don’t forget to wear plaid!

Don’t miss the world record-breaking attempt at the Houghton High School Football Field at 12:45 p.m. on Oct. 6. Plan on a Plaidurday afterparty at the Keweenaw Brewing Company regardless of the outcome.
