Western UP Planning and Development Region seeking your participation in household waste and recycling surveys
The Western U.P. Planning and Development Region (WUPPDR) is conducting public surveys on trash and recycling habits and experiences in Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon Counties. WUPPDR has created two separate surveys: one for hazardous waste disposal and another for recycling and compost. Common household hazardous materials include paint, compact florescent lightbulbs, aerosol canisters, and batteries among others. The surveys ask individuals to share the types of waste materials produced and managed in their household and their disposal habits.
These surveys will also provide WUPPDR insight into waste disposal preferences and barriers in our communities. Data collected from these surveys will help WUPPDR gauge public interest and provide a deeper look into improving materials management systems in Western UP.
Participation in these surveys is voluntary and confidential. Paper surveys can be found at your local city, village, or township hall.
