March for Meals is back for 2024

March for Meals is back in the Copper Country! Every year in March, Meals on Wheels has a nationwide celebration of the senior nutrition program being added to the Older Americans Act. This year Copper Shores will host a series of events to showcase its people, programming and locations to help raise awareness and make memories with fun activities.

These events offer participants the opportunity to sample delicious dishes prepared by Meals on Wheels, and learn more about the important role that congregate meal sites play in supporting community health and well-being. Participants will be introduced to new exercise opportunities with chair yoga, and have the chance to immerse themselves in the stunning landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture of the region through presentations and art, while connecting with friends, family and neighbors.

March for Meals will kick off on March 6 with an open house at the Hancock kitchen, and run throughout the month. A full schedule of events can be found below.

Name our congregate site, win $25 in Keweenaw Cash!

In addition to the in-person activities, the public is asked to think of creative and unique names that encompass the purpose of the congregate meal sites, which is to provide area seniors with a space to gather with friends, meet new people and enjoy a nutritious meal. The winner will receive $25 in Keweenaw Cash. During the month of March, participants can submit name suggestions to mealsonwheels@coppershores.org, by calling 1 (906) 483-1155 or making a submission at coppershores.org/congregate-sites.
