The Young Americans for Freedom chapter at Michigan Technological University will host Yeonmi Park for a free event in the Minerals and Materials Engineering Building, Room U115 on Thursday, March 14, at 7 p.m.
Born in North Korea, human rights activist and TED Speaker Yeonmi Park grew up in a punishing society devoted to the worship of Kim Jong-Il. But at the age of 13, she and her family made a daring escape to China in search of a life free of tyranny. In her viral talks, viewed online nearly 350 million times, Park urges audiences to recognize—and resist—the oppression that exists in North Korea, and around the world. In recent years, she has also become involved in American conservative activism, and American domestic issues.
This event is free and open to the public and is hosted by YAF’s Center for Entrepreneurship & Free Enterprise as part of the Preserving American Liberty & Freedom Lecture Series.
Following her speech, Park will participate in a Q&A discussion with members of the audience.
