Trinity Episcopal Church in Houghton will be hosting a makers night on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The event is specifically designed to promote the Art for Peace Project.
The Art for Peace Project is a program of Keweenaw Faiths United designed “to encourage young people of all ages to consider what peace is, why it is important, what peace looks like, and how they can play a role in creating peace in themselves and their communities.”
The Art for Peace Project invites any student ages 3-18 to participate by having a conversation about peace and then creating a piece of art related to their interpretation of peace. The artwork will be collected and put on display at the Copper Country Community Art Center on Sept. 21, the International Day of Peace.
While the project can be completed individually, Trinity Episcopal Church in Houghton is offering a place to do so with the community. Dinner will be offered starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by the facilitation of the art project. All are welcome to attend.
