Noteworthy Goes Country

  • Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church 56512 Rockland Street Calumet Township, MI, 49913 United States (map)

CALUMET – Noteworthy will be joined by artist-singer Gail English at its spring concert celebrating country music, set for 7 p.m., Thursday, June 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Calumet.

“Some of our most popular songs over the years have been country,” said director Joan Petrelius. “This concert gives us a chance to add some new ones and get together with one of our favorite local singers, Gail English. We predict the audience will absolutely love this concert.”

Noteworthy is the region’s only women’s barbershop chorus, with a repertoire of familiar, singable melodies performed in four-part harmony.

The program features Garth Brooks’ hit single “Friends in Low Places;” Lori McKenna’s “Humble and Kind,” first released by Tim McGraw; “Crazy,” written by Willie Nelson and made famous by Patsy Cline; and “When Will I Be Loved,” by Phil Everly.

English will perform “Mama, He’s Crazy,” Hank Williams’ “Hey, Good Lookin’” and more.

Noteworthy does not charge admission for its concerts. A free will offering will be taken to benefit UP Health Portage Hospice Butterfly Release and Remember. At the event, to be held later this summer, participants purchase butterflies and release them together in memory of their loved ones.
