The initial week of October marks the Mental Illness Awareness Week. To commemorate this, a complimentary event open to all will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m., located at Portage Lake District Library. This event is organized by the Mental Health Support Group-Keweenaw Area.
Our guest speaker for the evening will be Lieutenant Nick Roberts from the Houghton Police Department. He will present a training program that he introduced in Keweenaw, aimed at equipping law enforcement officers with the skills to handle mental health emergencies without exacerbating the situation.
Everyone is cordially invited to partake in this event.
