The League of Women Voters of the Copper Country, including its newly organized Gogebic Range Unit, are pleased to announce that both 38th Senate District Senator Ed McBroom and 110th District Representative Greg Markkanen will join us in Hancock to meet and speak to attendees at the 63rd LWVCC Annual Meeting. You are invited to attend. This meeting is open to all, and the press is invited to cover the proceedings.
The 2023 Annual Meeting of the LWVCC will take place at Gino’s Restaurant. All are welcome to come at 11 a.m., when Gino’s opens. The proceedings begin at 11:15 a.m. with remarks from Senator McBroom and Representative Markkanen and questions will be permitted after their presentations. There will be the option to watch the meeting by Zoom (to obtain the Zoom link, email cclwvmi@gmail.com); if time permits, questions from Zoom attendees will also be permitted. The Zoom stream will be recorded for later web posting.
After a brief intermission (from noon to 12:05 p.m.) those that wish to will purchase lunch from Gino’s (limited menu; the speakers’ lunches will be provided to them at no cost). The business portion of the League's Annual Meeting will follow lunch. The business portion is also open to the public. Attendees may come only for the presentations, or may choose to stay and purchase lunch and attend the business meeting as well. Scheduled breaks will permit attendees to depart if they decide to attend selected portions of the annual meeting events.
The Gogebic Range Unit is a new 'geographic unit' of the League of Women Voters, started in early 2022 by a group from the Western U.P. and northern Wisconsin.
The Gogebic Range Unit is being mentored in LWV affairs by the LWV of the Copper Country. The LWV of the Copper Country was started in 1960, and this will the 63rd Annual Meeting of the League of Women Voters of the Copper Country.
