Freezing Moon Traditional Powwow

The American Indian Science and Engineering Society at Michigan Technological University is hosting the Baashkaakodin-Giizis Freezing Moon Traditional Powwow. The event will take place on Nov. 4, 2023, at the Gates Tennis Center in Houghton, MI. Doors will open at 10 am with the grand entry at noon.

Four Thunders will be the host drum, with Loon Travelers co-hosting. The first five registered drums will receive a drum split. Steve Perry will serve as the arena director, and Don Chosa II will be the head veteran. A dinner break is scheduled for 4 p.m., followed by another grand entry at 6 p.m..

Head dancers will be Raistlin Awonohopay and Dana Awonohopay, with youth head dancers to be announced. Terry Goodsky will act as the emcee, and the Wiikwedong Ogitchidaa Society will serve as the honor guard.
