NCTA Peter Wolfe Chapter’s Annual General Membership Meeting

The Peter Wolfe Chapter's annual general membership meeting will be Thursday, May 4.

Our program will feature Bill Van Korsky, a volunteer with the Marquette Regional History Center, who will give us a live presentation on his research into Native American Trail Marker Trees! He is working with the MRHC in finding and recording all these trees in Marquette County that have been marked 150+ years ago by Natives to show a trail path, or point to water etc. He will share with us his photos and knowledge on how to distinguish these very special Native modified trees from naturally odd shaped trees, and how to record them with photos, measurements, pointing direction, GPS location, privacy protection etc. (Maybe someone will take up this project in our counties too!)

We will meet in Michigan Tech's Noblet Forestry building's big classroom G002 and Atrium, in-person, for our Annual General Membership meeting, starting with a meet’n greet including passing out of chapter tools and blazing supplies to our trail adopters at 6:30 p.m. with Program starting at 7 p.m. EDT on Thursday, May 4.

We will also have a short business meeting, including updates for this season and election of some members to our PWC board.

If you don't already get our monthly invitation to hike on the NCT with us, and are interested in joining us on our year around hikes/snowshoes on the NCT, please let me know to put you on our email list!

Note: Our next hike will be the Canyon Falls trail to see it roaring with spring melt waters on Sunday, April 30, details to follow closer to the date. Our May hike will be either May 14 or 21 (we will look at the weather and trail access road conditions to choose the date). Our June hike will be on National Trails Day, June 3, with a NPS guide from the Old Victoria Historical Center, hiking and showing us the mining ruins of this historic area.

If you are not already a member of the Peter Wolfe Chapter of the NCT, we would love to have you join us in supporting the trail! Click here for information to join and select MI - Peter Wolfe in the Chapter Selection box.

If you would like to help us maintain the NCT this season, please let us know. We would love your help!
