The Autism Alliance of Michigan (AAoM) is coming to Houghton with the Wayne Health Mobile Health Unit to provide Autism 101 Training, FREE health care screenings and vaccines on Wednesday, September 13th. Mobile Health Unit services include primary physician and specialist referrals, flu and COVID-19 vaccines and blood work screenings for diabetes, cholesterol, Kidney function and HIV. Autism 101 covers several topics, including a basic understanding of autism and related behaviors, communication concerns, information and tips on how to effectively interact with people with autism, and strategies on how to better support students with autism and their families. AAoM will be joined by the Keweenaw Area Community Foundation and Copper Country Great Start Collaborative to provide education and assistance regarding area resources for healthcare, food, utilities, insurance and more.
