Craft-themed student support group available in 2024
Students grades 7-12 from Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties are invited to join Copper Shores Victim Support for their Craft Night: Student Support Group monthly from January to June. The support group is designed for young people to build relationships with peers and other trusted adults. Victims of all crimes and their family members are welcome to join.
"These craft nights are a great, low-stress way for students from any background to gather and begin the healing process together," Victim Support Advocate Rachel Lamppa said. "Whether you've been the victim of bullying, lost someone close to you or are looking to branch out to meet some new people, we'll be happy to welcome you to these support groups."
Craft Night will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. starting January 16, 2024, and then the second Tuesday of each month through the end of the school year. Each of the six support group sessions will have a different craft available for students. This event is free to all students, with craft supplies for each session provided by Victim Support.
Craft nights will take place at the Copper Shores Victim Support office in Houghton. The first month will feature yarn art and is scheduled for January 16.
Victim Support helps victims of any crime by walking them through legal processes, ensuring comfort and safety, and advocating for them in court, with police officers and medical staff.
Please RSVP no later than noon on the day of the session. You can RSVP and ask questions by emailing Victim Support Advocate Rachel Lamppa at rlamppa@coppershores.org.
