Applications open for 2023 non-traditional scholarship opportunity

Copper Shores Community Health Foundation is pleased to announce a scholarship program for non-traditional students. Copper Shores will award three $2,000 scholarships to individuals from Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties wishing to pursue post-secondary education.

The scholarship is a one-time award. The applicant must meet the below-referenced criteria. Submitted applications will then go to the Copper Shores Grants Management Committee for anonymous review and awarding decisions.

Eligibility Criteria for Copper Shores Non-Traditional Scholarship

  • The student must be at least one year post high school commencement or have completed their G.E.D.

  • Must not be currently taking post-secondary classes

  • The student must have at least a 2.5 GPA or be accepted in good standing to a college or university

  • The student must be accepted for admission to a post-secondary institution (proof of acceptance must be shown, however, if the student has not received notification of acceptance, they must attach evidence that they have applied to a school and submit proof of acceptance when they receive it)

  • The student must be intending to seek a post-secondary degree or certification

  • The student must be intending to be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credits), or award will be prorated based on credit hours

  • The student must write a cover letter and accompanying essay in support of their application. 

The student must submit a completed application to the Copper Shores Community Health Foundation. Applications must be postmarked, emailed or delivered to Copper Shores office no later than Friday, July 21, 2023, to be considered. All required documentation must be included at the time of application submission. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
