Local fire fighters encourage community involvement as Fall Fire School approaches

The Copper Country Volunteer Fire Fighters Association (CCVFFA) is excited to announce the commencement of the Fall Fire School in October and is calling upon community members to get involved with their local fire departments. This initiative aligns with our commitment to building a resilient community through volunteer participation and preparedness.

The Fall Fire School, a vital training program for aspiring and current firefighters, will provide comprehensive instruction, hands-on experience, and valuable networking opportunities for individuals interested in serving their communities as first responders. CCVFFA is dedicated to strengthening the capabilities of local fire departments and fostering a spirit of volunteerism to ensure the safety and well-being of Copper Country residents.

We need more volunteer firefighters in our local community to ensure a timely and effective response to emergencies. Volunteer firefighters are the backbone of many fire departments, especially in rural and underserved areas, where resources can be limited. Their dedication and commitment provide crucial support in firefighting, medical responses, and disaster situations. Additionally, volunteers bring diverse skills and local knowledge, making them an invaluable asset in safeguarding lives and property. With the demands on fire departments increasing due to population growth and evolving risks, recruiting more volunteers is essential to maintain community safety, enhance resilience, and ensure the sustainability of our firefighting services.

There would be a lot fewer fire departments if it wasn't for volunteers. Over the years there have been volunteer fire departments throughout the country that have had to close their doors due to not having enough members to operate. Now instead of communities receiving a quick response to an emergency, communities are being forced to contract with another town to receive fire protection, increasing their response time. Imagine being trapped in a fire and having to wait for a fire department from another town to come save you. It is so important for individuals to get involved with their local fire departments. There is no cost to the individual or fire department to obtain the training said Pat Boberg, President of CCVFFA.

Getting involved with a local fire department can be a life-changing experience. Volunteers receive expert training, become part of a close-knit team, and contribute to the safety and security of their communities. The Fall Fire School is the ideal starting point for those interested in embarking on this rewarding journey.

CCVFFA is committed to ensuring that Copper Country remains a resilient and prepared community, ready to face any emergency. By promoting volunteerism within local fire departments, they are actively contributing to strengthening community resilience.
