HANCOCK — Canal Run, known for its commitment to community engagement, is proud to announce 31 Backpacks as the recipient of the 2023 Canal Run Gives Back program. 31 Backpacks provides over 3,000 meals, almost 1,000 servings of fruits and almost 900 snacks weekly to Copper Country children.

“Canal Run has been coordinating the Canal Run Gives Back program since 2011,” said Angela Luskin, Canal Run race director. “We’ve donated $20,000 to nonprofit organizations in Michigan’s Copper Country, including donating $5,000 to Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly in 2022.”

Canal Run takes place Saturday, July 15, and it’s time to register. You can participate in a variety of races, from the two-mile fun run to the half-marathon. If you’re not running, consider volunteering. Canal Run takes about 150 volunteers to put on each year, timing runners, passing out hydration and helping on the racecourse. You can sign up for your race online, or register to volunteer.
