Brockway Mountain Drive now open to vehicles

EAGLE HARBOR TOWNSHIP, Michigan — Brockway Mountain Drive, the Keweenaw’s beloved 8.8-mile scenic drive in Eagle Harbor Township, is opening for the season on May 11. Its breathtaking views, fresh mountain air and its sense of adventure make Brockway Mountain Drive a favorite destination for locals and visitors alike.

As visitors climb the winding road, built as a Great Depression-era work program in the early 1930s, they’ll enjoy panoramic views of Lake Superior, Copper Harbor and the rest of the stunning Keweenaw. The path has several scenic pull-offs and overlooks to stop and admire the beauty. Whether it’s a family road trip, a romantic drive or a solo adventure, Brockway Mountain Drive will welcome all this week.

The opening of Brockway Mountain Drive is significant each year for the Keweenaw because it is a popular tourist and local attraction. Thousands of people each year marvel at its impressive scenery.
