Call for Artists: Big Annie Statue Committee

The Big Annie Statue Committee is working on the fabrication of a large bronze statue to commemorate the woman Anna Klobuchar Clemenc. We are putting out a "Call for Artists" to submit conceptual renderings of this statue, which will stand in Calumet, MI.

Artists are encouraged to research and bring to life Anna with her historical impact on the region of the Keweenaw and the mining industry. All submissions will be juried and one final piece will be chosen. A $500.00 commission will be awarded to the finalist.

Eligibility: Open to all artists 18 years or older, residing in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. All artwork must be of the artist's own design and original in content and execution. Copyrights to the final piece will be owned by the committee following the payment of the $500.00 commission fee paid upon delivery of the artwork.

Submitting Artwork: Entries may be submitted by email in a 300 DPI JPEG no larger than 6". Each submission must be numbered, titled, and include contact information of the submitting artist. Images of entries may be emailed to summersettart@gmail.com. Please include “Attention Annie” in the subject line.

Media: Works may be submitted in two-dimensional media, rendered in black and white, or color. No photography will be accepted. The final piece of artwork will be reproduced and used in promotional media.

This should be considered when each artist is rendering ideas.

Entry Procedure: Artists are invited to submit up to two pieces for jurying. Judging will be based upon craftsmanship, originality, and creativity expressing the goals of personifying Anna Clemenc.

Entry Fees: No entry fee
