Copper Shores launches revamped scholarship program for 2024

Copper Shores Community Health Foundation is proud to announce its 2024 scholarship offering, highlighted by a new $5,000 educational sponsorship that will be renewable for up to three additional years for four students. In addition to its new educational scholarship, Copper Shores has six opportunities in partnership with Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance for career and technical education, and six donor-designated scholarship opportunities. 

Scholarships are available to students graduating from Baraga, Calumet, Chassell, Dollar Bay-Tamarack City, Ewen-Trout Creek, Hancock, Horizons, Houghton, Jeffers, Lake Linden-Hubbell, L’Anse or Ontonagon schools. Applications must be postmarked, emailed or delivered to Copper Shores no later than March 1, 2024.

Copper Shores Educational Scholarship

Four $5,000 scholarships are being offered starting with the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year. These scholarships will be renewable for up to three additional consecutive years, four years total, for undergraduate education providing the student maintains eligibility. The student must plan on attending a public college or university in Michigan.

Copper Shores/KEDA

Six $2,000 scholarships are available as one-time awards to be expended in the 2024-2025 academic year for students pursuing a certificate or Associate degree. 

Kirkish Educational Scholarship

Copper Shores will award $2,500 scholarships to two graduating high school seniors. The scholarship is a one-time award. Copper Shores’ intention is that recipients use the scholarship to help pay for education costs at a post-secondary school of their choosing. 

Kirkish Congregational Scholarship

Copper Shores will award $2,500 scholarships to two graduating high school seniors or currently enrolled college/university students. The scholarship is a one-time award to be expended in the 2024-2025 academic year. At the donor’s request, the student must be a congregation member of St. Ignatius Loyola and/or St. Albert the Great Churches in Houghton. 

McIntyre Family Scholarship 

Copper Shores will award $2,000 scholarships to two graduating seniors from Ontonagon High School. The scholarship is a one-time award to be expended in the 2024-2025 academic year.
